The NFL fights Breast Cancer.... Players & Cheerleaders ROCK Pink!....peep it out!

The NFL has joined forces with the American Cancer Society to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

With its official designation as the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), October is unofficially the "pink" month and has become a powerful source of breast cancer awareness and financial support for those organizations and individuals working to end the disease.

So how did the month come to be? I've always been fascinated with the history of these kinds of large-scale events. Surprisingly, BCAM was founded in 1985 by AstraZeneca, a pharmaceutical company that manufactures breast cancer drugs, as a way to promote mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer.

Coach Handbag designer Coach Inc. releases New Collection to lure budget-conscious shoppers... Money is Tight!!

Upscale handbag designer Coach Inc. reported a 3.4% decline in its fiscal first-quarter profit as the company reduced shipments to U.S. department stores and increased factory outlet promotions.

It also plans to open its first flagship shop in China and open an Asian distribution center to support and tap into demand in the world's third-largest economy.

Net income fell to $140.8 million from $145.8 million, the New York-based company (COH 32.97, +0.10, +0.30%) said. The per-share amount was unchanged at 44 cents. Sales rose to $761.4 million in the quarter ended Sept. 26 from $752.5 million a year earlier. North American same-store sales fell 1%.

Analysts, on average, estimated Coach would earn 40 cents a share on sales of $754.8 million, according to FactSet.

To lure budget-conscious shoppers in this recession, Chief Executive Lew Frankfort has launched a Poppy collection, with an average handbag price of about $240, as he broadened the assortment of the company's lower-priced handbags in the $200 to $300 range. While the company doesn't discount in its full-priced stores, it's increased 20% off coupons in its factory outlets to bolster demand, analysts said. Read related MarketWatch First Take commentary.

Verizon goes after iPhone "HARD" Motorola Droid will force iPhone to step up it's GAME... Cell Phone Wars!

Verizon’s official unveiling of the Motorola Droid phone seems to be giving the telecom giant a lift. It’s currently the biggest positive contributor to a Dow that’s firmly in the red. Dow Jones reports that the highly-anticipated Droid phone — from Motorola — represents a major bid by Verizon to counter the iPhone, which has been eating into its results in recent quarters.

Carried on Verizon Wireless, a joint venture between Verizon and Vodafone, the droid will start selling in Verizon stores Nov. 6 at $199. The phone is based on Google’s open-source Android mobile operating system, which means that anyone can tinker with the code to customize the phone. Verizon shares are up 2.5%. Apple is down 1.5%, which is weighing heavily on the Nasdaq.

Apple’s partner in the iPhone, AT&T, is up on the day, about 2.1%, helped out by slightly better-than-expected earnings and a rosier outlook from Qwest, which boosted the telecom services sector. Also helping AT&T might be the fact that Verizon started selling the touch-screen BlackBerry Storm 2 in stores Wednesday for $179.99. While there was a bit of buzz about the Storm 2 a couple months back, the early reaction today from consumers seems to indicate that the device doesn’t represent much of a threat to the iPhone, which is so important to Apple, said Todd Rethemeier, managing director of Hudson Square Research.

Pres. Obama lifts 22 yr Ban on Entry into U.S. by H.I.V. Postive People.... just in time for Government Healthcare!

President Obama on Friday announced the end of a 22-year ban on travel to the United States by people who had tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS, fulfilling a promise he made to gay advocates and acting to eliminate a restriction he said was “rooted in fear rather than fact.”

At a White House ceremony, Mr. Obama announced that a rule canceling the ban would be published on Monday and would take effect after a routine 60-day waiting period. The president had promised to end the ban before the end of the year.

“If we want to be a global leader in combating H.I.V./AIDS, we need to act like it,” Mr. Obama said. “Now, we talk about reducing the stigma of this disease, yet we’ve treated a visitor living with it as a threat.”

The United States is one of only about a dozen countries that bar people who have H.I.V., the virus that causes AIDS.

The Propoganda is Working!! L.A. County free H1N1 vaccine clinics overwhelmed by the Poor and Uninformed....California will be 1st State to Fail

L.A. County free H1N1 vaccine clinics SWAMPED!

Los Angeles County's free H1N1 flu clinics opened last week amid public health officials' promises to aggressively vaccinate people at highest risk, especially the uninsured. Instead, overwhelmed clinic staff began vaccinating many people who were not supposed to be first in line for protection, officials said Tuesday.

"We thought it was important to get to as many people as quickly as possible," said Dr. Jonathan E. Fielding, the county's director of public health. "We were assuming that the private sector was going to be getting a lot more vaccine a lot faster than they did."

Fielding conceded that county officials failed to conserve vaccine supplies early on, unwilling to turn away those who had traveled and waited in line. By Tuesday, they faced a vaccine shortage, with only enough doses to stay open through Nov. 4 instead of the planned Nov. 8.

"How do those people feel when they came a long way and in many cases are part of a family?" Fielding said. "What do we say -- we'll do your children but we won't do you?"

In recent days as demand for the scarce vaccines has increased and anxiety has grown, officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say many public health clinics have reported needing to intensify screening to take care of the most vulnerable first.

Questions about Cell Phones and Cancer won't go away...Top 10 Highest and Lowest Radition emitting Smartphones.

Where does your Phone Rank on the List? Are you frying your brain without knowing it??

The EWG study looks at all mobile phones, but since smartphones are becoming a standard tool for businesses and IT professionals, I’ve drilled down and looked at the list from a smartphone perspective. I’ve broken out the 10 smartphones that produce the most radiation, the 10 that product the least amount of radiation, and a list of the radiation ratings of some of the most popular smartphones that did not make either of those two lists.

When you look at these lists, keep in mind that the EWG has also included some older models that are no longer being sold but are still used by many workers and consumers. Also note that “W/kg” stands for watts per kilogram, a measurement for power density.
The 10 smartphones with the highest radiation

1.T-Mobile MyTouch 3G (1.55 W/kg)

2. Blackberry Curve 8330 (1.54 W/kg)

3. Palm Treo 600 (1.53 W/kg)

4. T-Mobile Shadow (1.53 W/kg)

5. Palm Treo 650 (1.51 W/kg)

6. Blackberry Curve 8300 (1.51 W/kg)

7. Blackberry Bold 9000 (1.51 W/kg)

8. Sony Ericsson P910a (1.50 W/kg)

9. HTC SMT 5800 (1.49 W/kg)

10. BlackBerry Pearl 8120/8130 (1.48 W/kg)

Nokia, with five models in this top 10, and Samsung with three, were clearly the winners in terms of smartphones that emit the least amount of radiation. It’s also interesting to note that although both of these companies produce dozens of different models, neither of them had a single model that made the list of the worst radiation offenders. The surprising member of the low-radiation club was the BlackBerry Storm (RIM’s first touchscreen device) since so many of the other popular BlackBerries were on the high-emitters list.

The 10 smartphones with lowest radiation

1.Nokia 9300i (0.21 W/kg)

2.Nokia 7710 (0.22 W/kg)

3.T-Mobile MDA Wiza200 (0.28 W/kg)

4.Samsung Impression SGH-a877 (0.35 W/kg)

5.Nokia 9300 (0.44 W/kg)

6.Samsung Propel Pro SGH-i627 (0.47 W/kg)

7.Samsung Gravity SGH-t459 (0.49 W/kg)
8.BlackBerry Storm 9530 (0.57 W/kg)
9.Nokia E90 (0.59 W/kg)
10.Nokia N96 (0.68 W/kg)

Tamiflu being Hoarded as Flu Scare sets in....

Businesses stockpiing drug to protect employees

Massachusetts and federal public health officials are criticizing some private companies for stockpiling flu medicine for employees and families.

Boston-law law firm Ropes and Gray is one company that made arrangements for hundreds of its employees and their families to obtain the antiviral medicine Tamiflu to protect them from swine flu.

They say it’s to protect their staff, but some doctors say it could hurt the public.

Dr. Steven Esrick, the Medical Director of the Valley Medical Group told 22News that stockpiling happens because Tamiflu is most effective if it’s taken within 48 hours.

But, he said “the problem is if a lot of people take it when they don’t need it, it will increase the resistance and make it useless.”

"You can Beat a Drug addiction, but you will never get over a Drug conviction, the "War on Drugs"... Every 18 seconds, an American is busted for drugs

URBAN AMERICA IS GETTING CRUSHED by the WAR on DRUGS

According to the latest FBI figures, 82.3 percent of all drug arrests in 2008 were for possession, and 44.3 percent of these for possession of marijuana. Arrests totalled more than 1.7 million.

URBAN AMERICA IS GETTING CRUSHED by the WAR on DRUGS

The new statistics point to a continued emphasis on drug interdiction – otherwise known as the "war on drugs" – that more and more law enforcement officers are now questioning. While many experts hold the anti-drug campaign to be the key reason for the decline in the crime rate in the US, especially violent crime, since the 1990s, these police officers, as well as current and retired judges and prosecutors see, instead, thousands of American lives ruined for small drug infractions in a costly and possibly unwinnable "war."

NFL Ticket Prices are up!! League defends Head Injuries. Which Team has Highest price?

NFL ticket prices climbed 3.9 percent to an average of $74.99 for the 2009 season.

According to Team Marketing Report's survey released Wednesday, 21 teams either kept prices the same or lowered them. The main reason for the percentage increase was the new Dallas Cowboys' stadium that cost $1.2 billion to build.

The average ticket to a Cowboys game costs $159.65, a record for the Fan Cost Index survey, which dates to 1991. The New England Patriots previously had the priciest ticket in pro sports and that cost remained the same at $117.84.

But the Patriots still have the highest-priced premium ticket average, $566.67.

Not every Cowboys ticket is so pricey. The team offers season tickets as low as $59 per game — the same price as the cheapest Cincinnati Bengals season ticket — and they sold out quickly. The Cowboys also offer a $29 "party pass," a standing-room ticket.

H1N1 Swine Flu News:351 schools closed last week in 19 states, as Government uses Media to Scare You into getting Swine Flu shot....remember 1976?

Swine flu prompts hundreds of schools to close

The number of students staying home sick with the flu is multiplying nationwide and normally quiet school nurses' offices suddenly look like big city emergency rooms, packed with students too ill to finish the day.

The federal government has urged schools to close because of the swine flu only as a last resort. But schools are closing by the dozens as officials say they are being hit so hard and so fast by the H1N1 virus that they feel shutting down for a few days is the only feasible option.

"There was nothing else we could do," said Michael Frechette, the superintendent of Connecticut's Middletown Public Schools where a middle school closed for the rest of the week after 120 students stayed home sick Monday and another 25 were sent home by noon. "The only way to stop that transmittal was to keep the kids home for the rest of the week."

At least 351 schools were closed last week alone — affecting 126,000 students in 19 states, according to the U.S. Education Department. So far this school year, about 600 schools have temporarily shut their doors.

HIP-HOP DESIGNER MARC ECKO FORCED TO SELL BRAND TO PAY OFF CREDITORS...money is Tight!!

"I'll take my lumps for a lot of things that, in retrospect, were a little indulgent. Life happens. I don't regret any of it."

A lifestyle of lavish spending takes its toll overtime as a person has to dig deeper into their pockets to find cash. After awhile, a person will pull out empty pockets as popular Hip-Hop clothing line businessman Marc Ecko had been forced to give up his enterprise.
Initial reports came in September and were made official Tuesday when Ecko signed over a 51 percent interest in the Marc Ecko brand to Iconix. This brand is a New York-based company that owns many popular fashion brands such as Joe Boxer, Candie's, Rocawear and London Fog.
The exchange with Iconix will see Ecko receiving 63.5 million in cash plus $90 million in financing for a newly formed joint business venture. He will also maintain his position as chief creative officer.
Ecko must have been acting in desperation as he was forced to lay off workers and even auction his Avirex brand and his watch trademarks in order to avoid creditors from breathing down his neck. He is still going through struggles, however, as he is still attempting to lease out pieces of his headquarters in Midtown, which houses everything from a recording studio to a basketball court. The headquarters is 280,000- square-feet in size.

Have Freemasons Hijacked HIP HOP and is Jay Z "scaring" the Hell outta You! ...Cul Cue interview.

Candace F. writes:
I wanted to say something about the fuss over Jay Z lyrics. Why is this a hot topic? I believe music is open to interpretation… so while I see and understand why ppl are ringing the alarm…i also don’t think he was denying Jesus per se… I think ..if one looks at the verse as a whole.. he is discussing girls that get lost in the big city lights when they go to NY from small towns … and they get used and abused… he is saying that when they are in that state of mind the Jesus can’t them … the girls are that “sheltered” all through childhood then come to the big city and go buck wild …and when ppl are telling them it’s wrong they don’t listen and they think it’s cool because they weren’t exposed …yada yada .. you see where I’m going with this.. I just think it’s time we as a people start looking within instead blaming everything else for their failures or their kids’ failures — the parents don’t know how to cipher the bs in the media as a whole beit music, internet and/or T.V. so how can they teach their kids.. It’s all about critical thinking… but what do I know it’s just my opinion.. Will you post something on the girl that was ganged raped?

Thanks,
Candace F.

House Democrats unveil health bill

Republicans and other critics quickly attacked the House Democrats' bill as a recipe for government control of health care and for higher costs. Americans for Tax Reform released a list of what it said was more than a dozen new or increased taxes or fees in the bill.

"Over the last several months, the American people have spoken, and it's pretty clear that our Democrat colleagues have not listened. Through the month of August and September, the American people let members of Congress from both sides of the aisle know that they wanted no part of a government-run health care plan," Representative John Boehner of Ohio, the top House Republican, told reporters on Capitol Hill.

"But nothing really has changed over these last couple of months, and yet the Democrats come forward with a bill that really is a government takeover of our health care system. It's not just the so-called government option. It's the over 50 new mandates, bureaucracies, tax hikes, commissions, all of this is going to require tens of thousands of new federal employees, which is clearly designed for a government takeover of our health care system," Boehner added.
