Wyclef Jean treated in hospital and recovering from stress related sysptoms.

Wyclef Jean is recovering in hospital after 'an exhausting eight months' since the Haitian earthquake, his spokesman said.

One week after ending his campaign to become leader of Haiti, Wyclef Jean has been taken to hospital in New Jersey to be treated for "stress and fatigue". The singer-turned-presidential-hopeful-turned-singer has reportedly been suffering from severe headaches for weeks, and now plans to "take it easy" and regain his health.
News of Jean's hospitalisation was issued by Jean's political site, AFACeAFACe, yesterday. The singer later re-tweeted their announcement. Speaking to MTV News, spokesman Marian Salzman said the singer was recovering from "an extremely gruelling three months – truly an exhausting eight months, since the earthquake when he recommitted himself to our homeland".
"[Wyclef] is currently suffering the effects of lack of sleep and stress, global travel, even the endless public eye," she said, "and has asked that his fans and supporters bear with him for the next several days as he regains his physical health and stamina. Then he will be back out in front of the crusade to rebuild Haiti and his pledge to make it even better for business." FULL STORY

Ludacris to be headliner at hip-hop festival in New Zealand

Actor and rapper Ludacris will be joined by T-Pain and Kelly Rowland for a new hip-hop and R&B festival to be held in Hamilton and Wellington in December.
The festival, called Boom Tunz, will also see performances by Layz and Third World, and will be held in Hamilton on December 11 and Wellington on December 12.
Local acts J Williams, Erakah, DJ CXL and K One will provide an hour-long medley to open the show.
Many might know Ludacris for his roles in films like 2 Fast 2 Furious, RocknRolla and May Payne, but he's also a credible rapper ill seven albums and hits like Roll Out, Area Codes and Get Back to his name.
Kelly Rowland is a former member of Destiny's Child and has had several solo hits including Daylight and Ghetto, while T-Pain is well known for his use of Auto-Tune and signature single I'm N Luv (Wit a Stripper).
Tickets for the Boom Tunz shows go on sale on October 4.

Rihanna Films a new Music Video in NY

Rihanna shoots a video on the streets of New York.

Rihanna fans got a peek at two of the pop diva's upcoming videos.



The singer posted a pic from the set of the clip for "Only Girl" to her Twitter last night. The shot featured Rihanna waving a shawl in the air as giant bright balloons bounced around her in a field.

She put up the pic with a caption, reading, "What up #RihannaNavy I've been busy being the "Only Girl In the World" wanna see more?!?!"

Cameras also caught Rihanna was also caught shooting the video for "What's My Name?" in New York this weekend.

We saw the new look for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month, and it divided fans. Some of you loved it, and others memorably compared it to the Mozilla Firefox logo. Maybe she is just keeping it around for her music video, but we ave a feeling this is the look Rihanna is going to be wearing for a while.

Demetrius Fields named Northwestern University Community Service Athlete of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Jeremy Ebert (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard-Darby) of the football team and sophomore Amanda Wirth (Pittsgrove, N.J./Schalick) of the field hockey team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

Ebert caught five passes for 83 yards and a pair of long touchdown receptions in Northwestern's 30-25 victory over Central Michigan Saturday at Ryan Field. Ebert, the Wilcats' leading receiver on the season, now ranks second in the Big Ten with 82.8 receiving yards per game and has four touchdown catches, all of which have covered at least 20 yards. He was named the team's Offensive Big Playmaker for the second straight contest.

Wirth played a key role in Northwestern's 3-2 upset victory over No. 6 Ohio State, racking up 12 saves while lowering her goals against average to 1.90. Facing one of the Big Ten's most prolific offenses, Wirth and the rest of Wildcat defense held the Buckeyes scoreless on all 11 of their penalty corner opportunities. Eight of the sophomore's saves came in the second half as OSU furiously tried to find the equalizer.

This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is sophomore Demetrius Fields (Dallas, Texas/South Oak Cliff) of the football team. Fields, along with teammates Venric Mark, Will Studlien and Justan Vaughn, visited the Children's Memorial Hospital last Friday, meeting with patients and their families. The players handed out posters, signed autographs, posed for pictures and talked football with the children.

Legendary hip-hop record store Fat Beats shuts down after 16 years in NYC.

Before Joseph Abajian opened the legendary hip-hop record store Fat Beats back in 1994, shopping for hip-hop vinyl in New York wasn't easy. "I remember having to go to so many different stores to find records. It made no sense in a city where hip-hop was born," recalls 39-year-old Abajian, whose frustration would push him to turn his relatively modest mom and pop shop not only into an iconic vinyl playground frequented by artists and fans alike, but a meeting place where the craft of hip-hop always took center stage. Now, 16 years after becoming one of the most recognizable ambassadors of the genre, Fat Beats' Manhattan flagship store at 406 Avenue of The Americas closed its doors last Saturday, September 4. It was the last nail in the coffin of an era that really ended years ago.
